there is more truth in this than you think!!!
...at our summer cottage I use my old MSuper2 with skipoles and I DO get the same sensation at 10km/h as when riding hard with my Monster at 35-55 in the forest
adding skipoles and focus on breathing and ALWAYS turning gives you a wheeling meditation
and a good leg workout!
and I can see myself doing this at 100 years old as well ;-)
